More than five years after the sudden death of Luc De Vos, legendary Belpop band Gorki (originally Gorky) still holds a special place in their many fans’ hearts. Although the group ceased to exist in 2014, some of their singles are still highly ranked in various (end-of-year) charts such as "De Tijdloze" on Studio Brussels & "100 on 1" on Radio 1. Much to the fans’ delight, their entire discography was re-released on vinyl and CD in 2019.
In total, four singles were released from debut album “Gorky” (1992): “Anja”, “Lieve Kleine Piranha”, “Soms Vraagt Een Mens Zich Af” and “Wacht Niet Te Lang”. “Anja” was a huge success and the band quickly rose to fame.
Later on, the band released the single “Mia” which ranked number one in “De Tijdloze” (best of all times!) chart on Studio Brussels three times in a row. Needless to say, the track became their biggest hit.
What better occasion than Record Store Day to pay hommage to Belgian music legend Gorki? Music Mania squeezed their first four iconic singles in the form of a 4x7” box set, numbered and limited to 1,000 copies. All singles come in their original form, including the original artwork.

Meer dan vijf jaar
na het plotse overlijden van Luc De Vos blijft Gorky/i harten
beroeren. Eind 2019 werd het volledige (!) oeuvre op vinyl én cd heruitgebracht,
tot groot plezier van de vele fans.
De
oorspronkelijke naam van de band was Gorky. In ‘91 brak
de band door met de single Anja. In totaal werden er vier singles uitgebracht
van het debuutalbum “Gorky”: “Anja”, “Lieve Kleine Piranha”, “Soms
Vraagt Een Mens Zich Af” en “Wacht Niet Te Lang”.
Het B-kantje van “Soms Vraagt Een Mens Zich Af” was “Mia”, dat later
het bekendste nummer van de groep werd. Mia is ondertussen uitgegroeid tot een
belpop klassieker en staat hoog genoteerd in diverse (eindejaars)lijsten zoals
“De Tijdloze” op Studio Brussel & “100 op 1” op Radio 1.
Naar aanleiding
van Record Store Day perst Music Mania Gent de éérste 4 iconische singles,
allemaal echte Belpop classics, opnieuw op 7inch vinyl. De release komt in
de vorm van een 4x7” box, genummerd én gelimiteerd op 1.000 exemplaren. Alle
singles komen in hun originele vorm, dus met het oorspronkelijk artwork zoals
ze destijds verschenen.
