Description

Depeche Mode drudge through the darkest coners of their musical minds on this record, creating some bone-crusingly heavy rock ballads, with the contrast of their trademark tear-jerking slower melodies.  The vinyl record incorporated a more aggressive, darker rock-oriented tone than its predecessor, Violator (1990), largely influenced by the emerging alternative rock and grunge scenes in the United States.
