Originally emerging in the mid-1980s, La Muerte's unique blend of punk, rock, and blues influences stood up with "The Surrealist Mystery", as an underground sensation that gained acclaim abroad before Belgium caught on. Foreign press showered praise on La Muerte for their radical sound and daring exploration of uncharted musical territories.
Now, four decades later, a special vinyl reissue allows us to relive the rawness of La Muerte's early days. This hand-numbered limited edition release features a remastered version, pressed on colored vinyl, keeping the original artwork. The vinyl includes the unorthodox automatic writing biography, presenting for the first time La Muerte as "The Missing Link Between Salvador Dali and the Stooges."
Additionally, a download code provides access to documents from that era and a remastered pirate recording of their gig at the Effenaar in Eindhoven in January '86, reflecting the mayhem and aggressiveness the band brought to the stage.
“The Surrealist Mystery” stands as a testament. It’s a sonic revelation, inviting the listener to rediscover the magic of La Muerte’s 1984 debut. The record marked La Muerte’s inaugural entry into the music scene, after only a few months of existence, leaving an indelible mark on the landscape of alternative and underground music.
