Laurent Garnier returns with the FABRICLG4 EP, celebrating the 25th anniversary of London’s iconic club Fabric.
The EP is a testament to Garnier’s enduring influence across genres. Opening with a nod to 2-Step, the first track “Playing with the Low-End” pays homage to Fabric’s deep-rooted connection to UK-originated genres. From this fierce 2-Step workout, the journey moves to the techno pulses of “Resonances from the D”, showcasing Garnier’s signature versatility.
The flip side introduces a lush house collaboration with Dan Diamond on “Odyssée Maison”, bringing deep grooves and soulful vibes. The closing track, “On the Way Home”, offers a soothing ambient comedown—echoing those final moments of a night out.
Following his recent four-part DJ mix series for Fabric—where he explored distinct musical colors in each mix—Garnier extends the journey with this EP. Each of the four tracks echoes the spirit of those mixes, showcasing different styles and further deepening the artistic narrative. Without the mixes, this EP wouldn’t exist; everything is interconnected, highlighting Garnier’s comprehensive artistic vision.
Fabric, with its programming that spans all genres, shares an uncompromising commitment to diversity and innovation in electronic music with Garnier. His brilliance lies in his ability to craft music that feels like a journey, transcending genre conventions. His collaboration with Fabric and Yoyaku feels natural—both entities embody the spirit of versatility.
Yoyaku, with its varied catalog, aligns perfectly with the project’s ethos, contributing not only through distribution but also in visual artistry. The EP’s artwork was created by Atelier 14, Yoyaku’s creative studio at Chapelle XIV art gallery. Featuring elements of augmented reality, the design pushes the boundaries of the physical format, elevating the sensory experience for listeners.
This project stands as another testament to Garnier’s relentless innovation and his collaborators’ drive to explore new creative horizons, all while staying deeply rooted in the rich legacy of electronic music.
