Bjorn Eriksson ( Blitzzega, Eriksson Delcroix , Broken Circle Bluegrass Band, Zita Swoon,..) continues on the path of previous album 'The Easywood Killer'.
This time he's channeling Eastern and more specific Japanese themes with electronics and cinematic orchestration.
In his own words: "A person, at least this one, is strangely put together. 1 positive response from a well-known radio maker at Klara ensured that I started working on new compositions in the fall of 2020, which I finished in March 2021. My starting point was to continue my search in an unknown musical world, beyond where my journey with The Easywood Killer (my previous LP) had taken me. I classified my 5 compositions under the heading 'THE HARAKIRI SUITES'.
Gradually, while creating this music, I was confronted with boundaries, not with its limitations but with pushing them. Play, learn, bring out the child in you... not the child you once were, because that is actually a part of yourself that you want to get rid of... Well, you heard it, it was a real therapeutic experience, an inner search… Something many have probably experienced in the past lockdown year. So hence THE HARAKIRI SUITES: Saying goodbye to old habits, the figurative death of the old me, a new day!! Despite the fact that I wanted to start with a musical clean slate, my musical heroes got involved. Heroes such as Italian film composers Ennio Morricone or Egisto Macchi, the French avant-garde composer Igor Wakhévitch. I also brought out the illiterate, self-taught Stravinsky version in me. My wife Nathalie Delcroix lent her beautiful voice. Cellist and harpist Seraphine Stragier plays on 1 piece, her husband Tim Vandenberghe also put some cherries on my cake."
