When guitarist Bjorn Eriksson (Eriksson Delcroix, Blitzzega and others) received an old Hammond organ as a gift not long ago, he immediately wanted to make a groovy exotica record, the aural equivalent of a pina colada. But there was a devil under the keys, forcing him to make a bloody cocktail. The result is this soundtrack for a fictional horror film.
Opener 'Fountain of Love', with echoes of John Carpenter's 'Halloween Theme', sets the tone: wide-ranging yet oppressive synth parts, thin bleeps and rattling percussion. In the gently pulsating 'Golden Showers' Eriksson's obsession with minimalist new beat shines through. A chilly wind blows in the desolate 'Minibar (for Tom Pintens)', a stopping place for ghosts from the past. For closing track 'Freudentränen', the musician turns on the slightly melted bossa nova function of his organ, and you hear a horde of zombies swinging squarely towards the horizon.
