Description

May 2022. Poltrock plays a random sequence of notes on a detuned upright piano in a remote hotel in Aulus-Les-Bains in the French Pyrenees. The muffled sound of the old Yamaha sparks a creative burst of new compositions..

Poltrock explores his horizons in that godforsaken place. He decides to record his four pianos, crudely and honestly, and then edit them with tape effects, cassette loops and old, analogue effects devices. The melodies are intimate and compelling, the sound is confrontational and intense.

Enter the Sun*Sun*Sun String Orchestra, lifelong friends and stage or studio collaborators with the likes of Einstürzende Neubauten, John Cale, Belle & Sebastian and Cinematic Orchestra. Perfect traveling companions to translate Poltrock’s whispering and intimate string compositions to tape and to create a symbiotic pairing of struck and bowed string instruments.
