“De l'amour mais quelle drôle d'idée” is truly an actress’ album. Born from her meeting with Léonard Lasry, Charlotte Rampling inhabits each of the songs with her immediately recognizable vocal imprint for a unique result. With melodies and production benefiting from luxurious arrangements, the songs are sometimes spoken, sung and played like cinema scenes. The texts of rare poetry evoke the intimacy of feelings ("Magnifique n'est-ce pas", "C'est écrit là dans nos yeux") with an alternation of tenderness, melancholy and sometimes even a few amused and spicy notes ("Non je ne vois pas qui vous êtes", Je ne suis pas celle que tu crois", "Assez voyagé"...) Created to measure for Charlotte Rampling, these 10 songs are signed by the tandem Elisa Point (lyrics) - Léonard Lasry (music) who also share the duet "Via Condotti", a poignant ballad whose action takes place in the streets of Rome released last spring and which was the starting point for the recording of this album as unexpected as it is enchanting.
