Emmy d’Arc was barely twelve when she got her first guitar. Not long before that, she had discovered her phenomenal voice by singing Singstar to pieces. The young teenager couldn’t wait to jump on stage. She taught herself a few chords, mama d’Arc bought a sound system and off they went, mother and daughter, for 15 years, touring the world for more than 450 concerts. It makes the Alkense a young veteran without stage fright. She appeared in the support programs of Sting, Amy McDonald and John Cale, among others, and Pukkelpop and Gent Jazz also fell for her. The general public got to know her in the VRT program 'Ik Vraag Het Aan', where she moved everyone to tears with her cover of November (Azure Ray) that promptly went viral. She will present her album on April 24 in Club Wintercircus in Ghent and will be at the Slope of Rock Werchter this summer. Behind her smile lies a perfectionist full of ambition. It is no coincidence that her name is an ode to the unyielding French heroine Joan of Arc.
BRAVING FEARS On March 28, you can fully experience this live experience at home, when she releases her debut album 'Braving Fears'. It tells the story of her personal growth and shows that she has overcome her fears. It is pure, sincere and authentic, without losing the sense of surprise. In the poppy 'Frontline' a catchy Spanish guitar appears, which fits perfectly with the treacherously cheerful choruses. On the intense ballad 'Back To You' Emmy d'Arc swaps the guitar for the piano - so she can do that too. The hypnotic verses of 'White Flag' lead to passionate hooks that beg for large, singing-along crowds. All songs were written, handled and developed from her own perspective. She joined forces with grandmaster Jean Blaute, which resulted in a beautiful collaboration. Emmy stands for simplicity and sincerity. Pure and raw she sings about life, the thoughts and things that we all share.
