Brigitte Fontaine

Brigitte Fontaine (born June 24, 1939 in Morlaix) is a French singer.

Her first 'jazzy' album was released in 1965. From 1969 onwards she worked with Areski Belkacem. 

In 1970 they collaborated (with the Art Ensemble of Chicago) on the LP 'Comme à la radio'. This album broke with the French chanson tradition. 

From that moment on, she was one of the most prominent French underground singers.
